Samsung releases One UI 8 beta for Galaxy S25 series with Android 16 features, AI upgrades, and UI improvements. Join the beta via Samsung Members app

Samsung has started early access for its new software update, One UI 8. The beta version is now available for Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra users in the UK, Germany, South Korea, and the US.

Samsung has officially launched the One UI 8 beta program, giving Galaxy S25 users an early taste of Android 16. The beta rollout begins in select regions and brings a host of new features, design tweaks, and performance enhancements.

This marks the first major look at what Samsung's Android 16 experience will be like ahead of the public release later this year.

Samsung Opens Android 16 Beta for Galaxy S25

In a move that has become something of a tradition, Samsung has kicked off its One UI 8 beta program just months after the release of the Galaxy S25 series. Starting this week, Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra users in South Korea, the US, and Germany can enroll in the beta via the Samsung Members app.

The update brings Android 16 to Samsung’s flagship phones, layered with the brand's signature One UI customizations. While the final version of One UI 8 is expected to roll out in Q4 2025, this early access offers a glimpse of what’s ahead.

What’s New in One UI 8 (Android 16)?

Samsung hasn't published a full changelog yet, but early testers and internal sources have highlighted several key updates:

  • Refined Interface Design: Cleaner animations and more rounded elements for a smoother visual experience.

  • AI-Enhanced Features: Smarter on-device suggestions, AI-generated wallpapers, and improved voice recognition in Samsung Keyboard.

  • Privacy Dashboard Upgrade: More transparency and granular controls over app permissions and data usage.

  • Lock Screen Widgets: Users can now add interactive widgets directly to their lock screens.

In addition to these updates, Samsung has improved system fluidity and reduced app launch times, addressing long-standing user concerns about performance consistency.

A Familiar Yet Evolved Experience

The One UI 8 beta builds on Samsung’s ongoing push for user-centric design. While it maintains the familiar layout Galaxy users know well, the subtle polish on interactions, notifications, and accessibility settings makes the UI feel more modern.

Jung Ki-Hyun, Senior Software Executive at Samsung Mobile, said in a statement:
"With One UI 8, we’ve focused on refining the essentials while preparing for a more AI-integrated future. This beta is an opportunity for our users to shape that future with us."

How to Join the Beta

Eligible Galaxy S25 owners can join the One UI 8 beta program by:

  1. Downloading the Samsung Members app.

  2. Logging in with their Samsung account.

  3. Tapping the One UI Beta Program banner.

  4. Registering and waiting for the OTA update.

Users are advised to back up their data before installation, as beta software may include bugs and unexpected issues.

What’s Next?

Samsung typically releases two or three beta builds before pushing the stable update. Given the early July timeline, a global rollout of the final version of One UI 8 based on Android 16 could arrive as early as October 2025.

The company is expected to expand beta access to older Galaxy devices, including the S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold/Flip models, in the coming weeks.
